running away from home,
cowboy shirts and hobo bundles,
the sledding hill?
Do you remember
forts in the woods,
throwing tomatoes and rotten eggs,
running through fields of corn taller than us?
Do you remember
softball in the driveway,
playing star light, moon light,
swimming in the creek and the pond?
Do you remember
riding the school bus,
teaching newborn calves to drink,
showing calves at the fair?
No, dementia has stolen these and all your memories!
The remembering is left to me.
I feel so alone.
